Do not miss the beautiful natural observatory of the Rio Maximo Wildlife Park, located north of Camagüey City.
The Refugio de Fauna Silvestre Río Máximo (Rio Maximo Wildlife Park), recently known as Sitio Ramsar, is located in the marshes between the rivers Máximo and Camagüey, in the northern coast in the province of Camagüey, Cuba. The area is quite difficult to access with many of the roads being in a poor state of repair.
The Máximo River delta is one of the largest nesting places for pink flamingos in the entire world. It is worthy of our admiration due to the uncountable and diverse species of water migratory birds, the American crocodiles and the colony of manatees. Since 1998 extra protection has been put in place due to the ongoing issues of human and nature contamination. Protection is always under review to ensure these stunning animals are kept safe and preserved for the future.. Very few people know about the Rio Maximi Wildlife Park it, and even less visit it, but it’s really worth the visit.
