The Parque Central Varadero is a little city park where you can find a beautiful monument in honour of the national hero Jose Marti and the big “Monumento a Los Martires” (Martyrs monument). The park is also next to a large artisan open-air market where you can find a large selection of handicrafts and souvenirs.
The Parque de las 8000 Taquillas (Park of the 8000 cubicles) was completely remodelled and is now called the Centro Comercial Hicacos where you can find many shops and boutiques and also the famous and ever-popular Coppelia ice cream parlour on the second floor.
The name “Parque de las 8000 Taquillas” comes from its original purpose when it was built in the 1960s. Visitors could leave their belongings in the basement of the park, have access to sanitary installations and restaurants on the first floor, and rent bathing articles and swimsuits.
Our Cuba Holiday experts have visited this park many times so do ask them about the Parque Central Varadero when you call us free on 0800 270 7644.
